Issues Merging Password Protected PDFs
How to resolve issues related to PDFs that are protected
If you are working with a password protected PDF in SignatureSense you may receive an error when performing tasks such as merging.
This happens because the security layer added to the document might be stopping our software working with the PDF as needed.
Importantly, your PDF might not be asking for a password for it to be opened, however it's still "password protected" for editing purposes. If so, this help is still relevant.
Fortunately it's easy to remove the settings that are causing the issue.
Follow these steps:
1) Open a copy of the problematic PDF into your normal PDF viewer such as Adobe or your web browser. I.e. just double click the PDF file to open it.
2) Click "Print" to open the Print dialogue (or CTRL+P).
3) Select the PDF printer from the list of printers
4) Continue , then when prompted, save the new PDF somewhere where you can access it.
5) Try your SignatureSense task again but making sure to use the new version of the PDF document. If you are using Reapit you will need to upload the new PDF into the Letters section after removing the old version, and try your task again.
The new copy of the PDF document should be the same as the original one, but without the password protection.
